AVALON INTRODUCES THEME CRUISES

Avalon Waterways has introduced a variety of themed vacations for 2010, offering the chance to experience destinations with an emphasis on wine, music and holiday traditions. In addition, cruisers will have the opportunity to witness Germany's legendary Oberammergau Passion Play, combined with several river cruise itineraries.

For music lovers, Avalon Waterways is taking cruisers to a symphony of destinations on its Magnificent Europe music cruise and the new Burgundy & Provence jazz cruise. On the special Magnificent Europe 17OCT10 departure, local experts will provide an overview of European music with shore excursions to a Strauss concert in Vienna, an organ recital in Melk and a visit to the Opera House in Bayreuth, home of the Richard Wagner Music festival.

Passengers will explore Saltzburg, Mozart's birthplace, and see the countryside where the "hills are alive with the sound of music".

Travellers can experience the festive season on three Christmas cruises, including the new Christmastime in Germany & Austria, Christmastime on the Danube and Christmas in the Heart of Germany.
